OCT mapping demonstrates the tissue layers of the eye
Our physicians use the latest technology to accurately diagnose your condition and
to develop the best treatment plan. Various diagnostic tests may be used including
photography and digital imaging such as color fundus photography, fluorescein angiography,
indocyanine green (ICG) angiography, and ocular coherence tomography (OCT).
Digital imaging uses a computerized camera to instantaneously produce a picture
of the retinal circulation. In digital angiography, a fluorescent dye is injected
into your arm while a computerized camera instantly produces pictures of the dye
passing through the blood vessels in your eye.
OCT provides detailed cross section images and serial mapping that allows doctors
to visualize underlying structures of the retina, which until now could only be
observed by surgery. Because of its mapping accuracy ease of use, and non-invasiveness,
OCT is widely used to detect a variety of eye diseases, as well as, to help diagnose
disease in early stages.
